Lucille Elizabeth Elmore Lamer

Memorial services for Lucille Elizabeth Elmore Lamer, 89, Lawrence (formerly of Hays, KS) will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence. Inurnment will be at a later date in McCracken Cemetery in McCracken, Kansas. She died January 24, 2010 at the Pioneer Ridge Assisted Living in Lawrence.
Mrs. Lamer was born on March 31, 1920 in La Crosse, Kansas to Glenna and J. R. Elmore.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles William “Bus” Lamer II; her parents; two sisters, Fay Muller and Dorothy Neumann, and a brother John Elmore.
Lucille graduated valedictorian of McCracken High School and received her BS in 1942 from Kansas State University, where she was president of Chi Omega Sorority. She was a member of DAR, PEO Chapter IH and Eastern Star, a Deacon of the Presbyterian Church and served on the boards of the McCracken Library and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
She will be greatly missed by her seven children: Fay Dixon and husband Dave of Hilton Head Island, SC; Kay Lamer of Arlington, MA; Chuck Lamer and wife Cheryl of McCracken, KS; Patty Taylor and husband Bruce of Los Angeles, CA; Kim Brockman and husband Gary of Shawnee, KS; John Elmore and wife Rosy of Lawrence, KS and Norma Kober and husband Allen of Southlake, TX, as well as 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Thanks to her friends at Pioneer Ridge Assisted Living who took her into their hearts and home.
The family suggests memorials in her name to Hays Arts Council in Hays, Kansas and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
