Lupita Nyong'o strikes again. The actress proved her fashion force is still ever so strong at the premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi last night. For the occasion, she chose a strapless dress by the on-the-rise British label Halpern fitted with rich, glittery textures and artful draping. To complement it, Nyong'o wore simple jewelry from Tiffany & Co. and metallic stiletto sandals by Jimmy Choo. The brand choice here is refreshing, but unsurprising: In case you didn't know, designer Michael Halpern is a red carpet whisperer of sorts. His dazzling frocks have been increasingly popping up on red carpets (such as on Marion Cotillard in Cannes, for instance), and something tells us we're only going to see more of his work.
Meanwhile, actress Daisy Ridley also chose an emerging label for her premiere look. She shined in a strapless sequinned gown with star motifs from Monse's Spring 2018 collection. The brand is helmed by Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, the current co-creative directors of Oscar de la Renta, and its dresses have appeared on other starlets such as Naomie Harris and Diane Kruger. If one thing is for certain, these leading ladies have seriously high fashion I.Q's.
