Man pleads guilty in fatal Laurel County crash

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Corbin man has pleaded guilty to causing a 2016 crash that killed a Barbourville woman.

The Mountain Advocate newspaper says 35-year-old Eric J. Cassidy pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter during a court appearance in Laurel Circuit Court.

Police say Cassidy was under the influence when he ran head-on into a car and killed 47-year-old Sherry King.

Cassidy is expected to receive a 20-year sentence in exchange for the plea.

The Mountain Advocate says Cassidy will be formally sentenced on May 29.
