Arlan Henry Zieske, age 77, of Renville, died Monday, January 4, 2016, at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 7:00 p.m. at Emden Christian Reformed Church in Renville. Arrangements with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Renville, MN.

Arlan Henry Zieske was born on December 5, 1938, in Seaforth, Minnesota to Calvin Gordon and Rose Elizabeth (Bernardy) Zieske. Arlan grew up on a farm in the Seaforth area and attended school at St. Mary's Catholic School in Wabasso, Minnesota. Arlan was united in marriage to Joyce Schoer on January 14, 1956, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in just a few days. Arlan and Joyce moved to Renville in 1968, and they raised their family here. During his working years, Arlan worked for Waldorf Paper Company, at a turkey farm, at Herb Bensch Mink Farm in Renville, sold used machinery, and drove bus for Renville Schools. He also owned and operated Zieske Auto Sales in Olivia for a number of years. Arlan's passion in life was racing, he enjoyed many hours at the local dirt tracks, racing and watching other family and friends compete. He also loved cars, playing cards, fishing, spending time with his family, and sitting in his chair with Simba.

Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years, Joyce; his four leg best friend Simba; his children: Deb (and Quentin) Keehl of Renville, Randy (and Verla) of Renville, Terry (and special friend DaNel) of Renville, Laurie (and Joe) Fernkes of Willmar, Tim (and Lorri) of Sacred Heart, Brian (and Lynn) of Renville, Mike (and special friend Deb) of Renville, and Rhonda (and John) Manderscheid of Chippewa Falls, WI; 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters: Darius (and Ellen), Darrell (and Lynnae), Perry (and Joan), LeNae (and Art) Lang, Dennis (and Shirley), LynDa (and Mark) Bethke, and Kevin (and Laurie); many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his grandson Mitchell Zieske.
