Lloyd R. Boldt, 90, Bismarck, passed away Feb. 26, 2017, at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. There will be a gathering of family and friends 10 a.m., Friday, March 3, 2017, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Graveside service will be 11 a.m., in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Lloyd was born March 17, 1926, at Alsen, to John and Mary (Feil) Boldt. He was raised at Sarles, and graduated from Rock Lake High School in 1944. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served during WWII in the Philippines. On Oct. 28, 1948, he married Evelyn Holt in Calvin. He farmed his entire life until retiring in 1991. Lloyd enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, and watching sports, especially North Dakota Class B basketball, March Madness, and UND Hockey. No one was a stranger to him, and he could strike up a conversation with anyone.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; four daughters, Karen Zepernick (John Emery), San Diego, Calif., Nancy Boldt, Bismarck, Ruth (Dan) Billings, Grafton, and Julie (Matt) Broderick, Washburn; two sisters, Darlene (Wayne) Gebur, Surrey, and Linda (Jim) DeMarse, Ashland City, Tenn.; one brother, Lawrence (Virginia) Boldt, Wrightwood, Calif.; and eight grandchildren, Marcie Krumwiede, Melissa (Jeff) Long, Monica (Scott) Stabeck, Jeremy (Kim) Billings, Chris (Sarah) Billings, Kayla (Lucas) Gannarelli, Lexi (Zach) Waldoch, and Danny Broderick; 11 great-grandchildren, Alex, Brandi, and Brady Gunsch, Charlie and Kendall Long, Melanie and Ryan Billings, Taryn, Jillian, and Logan Gannarelli, and Charlotte Waldoch.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Oliver and Duane “Bud” Boldt. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
