Arcmont Asset Management, a €13bn private debt specialist, has launched as an independent employee-owned business after completing its separation from BlueBay Asset Management. Arcmont is led by chief executive Anthony Fobel who founded BlueBay’s private debt unit in 2011. David Brooks and Alice Cavalier will join as partners in January from Bain Capital Credit and Pimco respectively to run a new capital solutions strategy for Arcmont.

Nichola Pease will succeed Liz Airey in March to chair Jupiter Asset Management, the £45bn UK asset manager. Ms Pease, a former chief executive of JO Hambro Capital Management, is married to Crispin Odey, a hedge fund manager who has been shorting Jupiter’s shares.  Odey Asset Management has agreed not to hold any positions in Jupiter while Ms Pease is employed at the FTSE 250 company.  Ms Pease was a non-executive director of Northern Rock, the UK bank that was nationalised in 2008.

Lærernes Pension, the DKr101bn Danish teachers’ pension fund, has appointed Karsten Kjeldsen as chief executive. He succeeds Paul Brüniche-Olsen, who has retired after 24 years as CEO. Mr Kjeldsen was previously chief investment officer at rival Danish pension provider Industriens Pension. It has promoted Peter Lindegaard to CIO from head of listed investments.

USS, the UK university pension scheme, has hired Ben Clissold as head of fixed income and treasury. Mr Clissold was formerly head of liability driven investment at BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager. 

Credit Suisse has recruited Gerhard Lohmann as chief financial officer of its international wealth management division. Mr Lohmann returns to Credit Suisse from Swiss Re.

There are two arrivals at Systematica Investments, the $8.2bn hedge fund manager. Egon Ruetsche joins as a Geneva-based research fellow from Aquila Capital, while Amine Benamer, a former head of trading at Royal Bank of Scotland, will move to the trading and execution team in London from BlueCrest Capital.

Gregor Hirt has moved to Deutsche Bank Wealth Management as global head of wealth discretionary. Mr Hirt joins from Vontobel. 

Peter Diel has joined Solactive as head of product development for the Frankfurt-based indices provider. Mr Diel arrived from DWS, the German asset manager owned by Deutsche Bank.

Brown Shipley has recruited Shanti Kelemen as investment director, a new role at the UK wealth manager. Ms Kelemen was previously a portfolio manager at Coutts.

Investec Asset Management has hired John Cappetta to lead private bank distribution business across Asia. Mr Cappetta previously worked for Julius Baer. 

Eaton Vance, the $490bn US asset manager, has hired Ryan Changwon Kim as business development director for Asia, a new role based in Singapore. He joins from Robeco.
