SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Ann Romney is going on a national tour to promote her book about living with multiple sclerosis.

The wife of former presidential hopeful Mitt Romney kicked off her promotional tour of "In This Together: My Story" at Brigham Young University on Thursday.

Ann Romney was diagnosed with the neurological disease in 1998. The Mayo Clinic says MS causes the immune system attacks the nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord, causing communication problems between the brain and the rest of the body.

She says she was motivated to write the book because of the people she met while on the campaign trail with her husband in 2012.

Proceeds of the book go to the Center for Neurologic Diseases at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
