Robert Redington scratches at Shageluk

The youngest of three Redington brothers racing to Nome has scratched at the Shageluk checkpoint just after 10:00 a.m.
Robert Redington, 29, of Willow made the decision to scratch in the best interest of his team, according to a statement from the Iditarod Trail Committee. Redington had 11 dogs in harness when he decided to scratch.
Robert Redington is the grandson of Joe Redington, Sr., the father of the Iditarod, he finished last year's race placing 22nd. The youngest Redington has two brothers still racing to Nome, Ryan Redington and Ray Redington, Jr., both have left the Grayling checkpoint.
Redington is the fourth musher to scratch after
scratched at Skwentna,
scratched at Rainy Pass and
scratched out of Takotna.
