Marjorie Theola Melling was born on October 29, 1922, in Vesta, Minnesota the middle child of Louise and Iver Melling. She grew up on a farm outside of Vesta and after graduating from high school moved to Minneapolis to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. In November of 1944 she graduated from the Swedish Hospital with a RN Degree.

Marge's life partner of 66 years claimed he knew she was the only girl for him the first time he saw her. Theirs was a courtship of going to dances, family gatherings and long distance letters while Harry was serving his country. On January 23, 1945, the couple were married while Harry was home on leave. The couple raised their family in the Twin Cities area where Marjorie continued her nursing career. The couple were very active in their community. They led youth activities, participated in church and hosted numerous relatives and family events. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. Marjorie's career spanned nursing in nursing homes, private nursing and ended as Director of Nursing at Lakewood Manor in Glenwood, MN.

The couple enjoyed their retirement years in Alexandria dancing, card playing, road trips, fishing and spending time on the lake with family and friends. Marjorie was well known for her awesome baking whether it was her cinnamon rolls, banana bread and oatmeal raisin cookies. Marge was always very active. Reading, crocheting, sewing, creating plastic canvas pieces, word games and puzzles were a part of her daily life.

Marjorie is now dancing in heaven with Harry after a long illness with Alzheimers. She died on Thursday, August 23, 2018. She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Nancy) of Shakopee; daughters: Jeri (Terry) Mehlbrech of Tea, SD, Barb (Kate Graber) Schrupp of Sun Prairie, WI, Jodi Pelishek Rice Lake, WI; eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry; parents, brother, Duane; sister, Lorayne; and three grandchildren: Jamey, Joey, and Mary.

Funeral services was held on Monday, August 27, 2018, 2:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home. Burial was at Geneva Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
