Cornell appointed Lake County judge

Patricia L. Cornell of Old Mill Creek will become the next associate judge of Lake County's 19th Judicial Circuit, Chief Judge Jay W. Ukena announced Thursday.

Cornell received the majority number of votes cast by circuit court judges to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Associate Judge Margaret A. Marcouiller.

"Patricia will be an excellent addition to the 19th Judicial Circuit and we look forward to her joining us," Ukena said in an announcement of the appointment. "Ms. Cornell brings a wealth of legal experience to her new role, after a distinguished career working in family law. I congratulate her on her appointment."

Cornell received her bachelor's in political science from University of Wisconsin-Parkside and her law degree from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago. She is a partner in the firm of Cornell Anderson LLC in Waukegan.

"Since I was a teenager I have admired the associate and circuit judges of the 19th Judicial (Circuit). I am deeply honored and humbled to be appointed to the position of associate judge. I aspire to emulate the judiciary in serving my community and the public," she said.
