A Lake Mary man died Thursday night when the pickup truck he was riding in overturned on Lemon Bluff Road in West Volusia, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a press release.

Andrew Malki, 22, was partially thrown from the 1996 Toyota pickup driven by Joshua Montes de Oca, 23, of Lake Mary as the men were traveling on Lemon Bluff Road near the intersection with Wild Acres Road, southeast of Osteen.

The pickup was hauling a boat, the FHP said, when Montes de Oca lost control just after 7 p.m. Thursday. Malki died at the scene.

Montes de Oca suffered minor injuries and was being treated at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.

An investigation into whether alcohol was involved is pending, as are charges against Montes de Oca, the FHP said in the release.
