Goodfield residents voted almost 2-to-1 in favor of overturning a century old rule banning alcohol sales on Tuesday.

The restriction will be lifted in time for the debut of a new theater and restaurant.

Supporters of the alcohol referendum say the lift will bring more revenue to their city. Several neighboring towns have lifted alcohol restrictions in the past few years.

The village’s dry status dates back more than 85 years. In the last 13 years neighboring cities Eureka and Mackinaw voted to end their decades-old ban.
