Coroner IDs Pedestrian Killed By Metrolink Train

Authorities released the identity of an El Monte man who was struck and killed on a Metrolink track, Tuesday.

BALDWIN PARK, CA — A pedestrian struck and killed by a Metrolink train, Tuesday, was identified as Alfonso Cardenas, 25, of El Monte, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office reported.

Cardenas was near the 11300 block of Valley Boulvevard, near Peck Road, the LA County Fire Department reported on Tuesday. The circumstances of his death remain under investigation, authorities said.

Metrolink Trains were stopped for several hours following the fatality, with passengers headed to downtown San Bernardino and downtown Los Angeles ferried to other trains. As of Wednesday, all trains were running as usual.
