Lizzo says she and Obama are ‘friends now’ after he added her to his music playlist

Singer Lizzo said that she and former President Barack Obama are “friends now” after he added her song “Juice” to his and former first lady Michelle Obama’s 2019 summer playlist earlier on Saturday.

{mosads}Minutes after the former president dropped his summer playlist on Twitter early Saturday, Lizzo took to the social media platform to celebrate the news.

“I TWEETED THIS AT 10:26AM AND ONE HOUR LATER PRESIDENT @BarackObama TWEETED ABOUT ME!!!” she tweeted. “WE’RE FRIENDS NOW I DONT MAKE THE RULES!!!”

Her tweet featured a screenshot of Obama’s playlist and another showing a previous tweet she made earlier that morning recalling the first time she voted for him.

“The first President I could ever vote for was Obama,” she said in the tweet. “I was so proud of my right to vote and I will never take it for granted. I love us.”

“I’m not sure who I’m voting for yet, but it for damn sure isn’t Trump,” she added.

Lizzo also shared a number of other tweets on Saturday expressing her political views.

In another tweet from Saturday morning, Lizzo took aim at people who questioned if Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) age was a factor in the 2020 presidential race.

“I hear a lot of about Bernie Sanders being ‘too old’ to run or be president,” she wrote in the tweet. “But we’ve currently got a 73-year old in office so drop the ageism shit and just listen to what he’s got to say.”

She also called White House hopeful and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) a “dope candidate” in a later tweet, adding: “I’m just sayin we worried bout the wrong things let’s just listen to the policies and stop talkin bout the shit that don’t matter ya know.”

However, she added in a later tweet that she wants to “remind everyone I’m not endorsing any one” in the 2020 race yet.

“I’m just trying to move our conversations from the petty to the productive,” she wrote.
