Mass. Man Charged With DUI, Drug Possession After Crash

Ryan Burns of Mansfield, MA, was arrested today after a collision and allegedly blowing nearly 2.5 times the legal limit on a BrAC test.

HOOKSETT, NH — A Massachusetts man is due in court next month after an aggravated drunk driving charge in Hooksett this morning, according to police. Ryan Burns, 22, of Mansfield, MA, was arrested on Dec. 17, 2017, for aggravated driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled drug, and open container. At just before 2 a.m. this morning, an officer was flagged down by Burns for a report of motor vehicle collision on Martins Ferry Road.

“While speaking with Burns, it appeared he was under the influence of intoxicating liquor,” according to Sgt. Joseph Ducharme of the Hooksett Police. “Burns was asked if he was willing to take field sobriety tests which he agreed to and was subsequently arrested.”

Burns was charged with drunk driving and transported to the Hooksett Police headquarters. There, according to Ducharme, he reportedly agreed to a breath test and allegedly blew a BrAC of 0.19, about two and half times the legal limit.

Burns was released on personal recognizance bail and is due in court on Jan. 4, 2018.
