This Sunday, Brooklyn Bowl wants volunteers to show up and participate in what is being billed as the first ever Norton Records Wash-A-Thon.
The Brooklyn-based label warehouse in Red Hook was flooded during Hurricane Sandy. While most of its CD inventory was destroyed, the label is salvaging its vinyl inventory, by cleaning records that were underwater and resleeving the recordings, which include titles by Sonics, Link Wray, Hasil Adkins, Jack Starr, Bloodshot Bill, Esquerita, and Daddy Long Legs, among others.

With free admission to Brooklyn Bowl, the wash-a-thon is scheduled to start at 4 PM, and Brooklyn Bowl and Norton are asking volunteers to bring your own gloves and “rolls of hi-class paper towels, while Pittsburgh-based Discwasher has contributed record washers to the effort.
