Steven "Steve" Richard Mittlestadt, age 49 of Glendive, Montana passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 10, 2018 in Dickinson, North Dakota. A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Glendive with Pastor Carol Rhan officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Steve was born on June 30, 1969 to Richard and Helen (Buxbaum) Mittlestadt in Glendive. He was raised and educated in Glendive. Steve attended Dawson County High School and graduated with the class of 1987. Growing up, Steve was a motor head and was always known for having the fastest and coolest cars. After high school, Steve worked at several jobs including Radio Shack. During this time he was united in marriage to Angie Crone on July 23, 1993 in Glendive. When Steve found out that his first daughter was on the way, he begged Gary Kunick at Western Oil for a job for a couple of weeks before Gary finally gave in. This is when Steve began his career in the oilfield. Steve worked for several companies throughout his career, but with hard work and many, many hours, he was able to go out on his own. Steve owned and operated SRM Consulting, something he was very proud of and worked very hard at until the time of his passing.

Steve enjoyed working on all sorts of vehicles, from bump-n-run cars to motorcycles, just about anything with an engine. He looked forward to his Saturday 4:00 A.M. coffee rides with his dog Tonka and his Saturday afternoon garage sessions with his best friend Jason Stanfill. Steve was an extremely hard worker, which made him stubborn about vacations, so Angie just scheduled them and told him when to take time off. He always looked up to his brother-in-law Tony Lee, because they both shared the same strong work ethic. Steve also had an eclectic taste in music. He loved to blast his music as loud as possible and sing along with every verse. When work allowed he loved to sing in the church choir too. Above all else, was Steve's family, his three girls were his world. Steve would do anything he could to not miss any of his daughter's events, whether it was school sports competitions or motocross races, Steve was there. Steve was always there for his family, he was a hardworking, selfless man who never complained and never judged anyone. Steve will be missed by all who knew him.

Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father Richard Mittlestadt and his father-in-law Jerry Crone.

Steve is survived by the love of his life, Angie Mittlestadt of Glendive, his two daughters, Allie (Tyler) Neu and Amanda Mittlestadt all of Glendive; his mother, Helen Mittlestadt of Glendive; his two sisters, Cindy (Duane) Cudmore and Glenna (Tony) Lee all of Glendive; one brother, Donald (Kelly) Mittlestadt of Shepperd, Montana; his mother-in-law, Vernone Spencer of Glendive and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
