Exciting news for fans of The X Factor, Louis Walsh is allegedly making his big comeback for this year's series.

He previously hinted he was in talks with Simon Cowell about returning to his chair on the judging panel, with an All-Stars and a celebrity edition planned for later this year. It just wouldn't be right without Louis.

Imagine not hearing the likes of "you look like a pop star, you sound like a pop star, you ARE a pop star," or "you're like a young Michael Bublé" on either of these editions of the show.

Louis confirmed the news to MailOnline at Westlife's comeback Twenty Tour in London, so it seems he's signed on the dotted line.

Digital Spy has reached out to ITV and The X Factor for comment.

The music manager has already admitted he wants to return to the panel and he's excited about the two shows this year.

"I'm speaking to Simon. Let's see," the music manager told The Mirror last month.

"The All-Star concept is great. People will watch it to see Leona Lewis, G4, Sam Bailey. Real singers, real talent. It could be like battle of the divas."

If Louis does come back, however, he wants his partner-in-crime Sharon Osbourne to join him too, despite her recent feud with Cowell.

He said: "Sharon would be great. She's burnt a few bridges, but that's what’s good about her – she has an opinion. She's never boring or predictable.

"She was only joking. It was all panto talk. They will make up. I'm going to mediate between them. I'll do anything necessary."

Sharon has downplayed talk of her return, stating that she's not been approached to return.

"Had the best fun, was naughty, had a laugh. But that part of my life is gone, and you can't go back. So I have to move on for myself."

The X Factor is due to return to ITV later this year.
