MANHATTAN — A Physics professor from the Upper West Side was arrested Sunday for allegedly running a sophisticated prostitution website, AP reported.
David Flory, 68, who taught at Fairleigh Dickinson University, is accused of running the New Mexico website that may have provided 200 prostitutes for up to 1,200 clients, according to the AP.
He was arrested in an Albuquerque Starbucks this weekend, the New York Post reported. He was charged with 40 counts of promoting prostitution, court records show.
A specialist in elementary particle theory, Flory also spent a decade in the school administration where, according to his website, he worked on human resource database systems and measuring academic productivity.
On the alleged prostitution website, men using the site were put in categories based on the level of trust they had gained from Flory, Albuquerque police told the AP.
Prostitutes would email details of their encounters with the johns, increasing the level of trust the men had on the site, the AP reported.
Users learned of the site through word of mouth, which is how the police learned about the operation.
Flory, a married father of three, according to his personal website, was being held on a $100,000 bond Tuesday.
