While the wait has begun for the first baby to be born in Crow Wing County, there is already an indicator of what the most popular baby names were in 2017.

As of Dec. 11, the Family Birthplace at Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd was part of delivering 405 babies last year. There are echoes in the top names from the Social Security Administration's top names of 2016.

The hospital listed the most unusual first names in 2017 as Chenandoahrose and Appolymi.

The 2016 Social Security Administration top names for girls were in order: Emma, Olivia, Ava, Sophia, Isabella, Mia, Charlotte, Abigail, Emily and Harper. The 2016 top boys names were in order: Noah, Liam, William, Mason, James, Benjamin, Jacob, Michael, Elijah and Ethan.

Broken down further, the Social Security Administration lists the most popular baby names in Minnesota in 2016 in order as Evelyn, Olivia, Emma, Charlotte, Harper, Ava, Grace. Amelia, Sophia, and Nora for girls. The popular boys names were: Henry, Oliver, William, Owen, Liam, Jack, Mason, James, Noah and Theodore.

Other popular names on the 2016 top 51 list for Minnesota included: Jackson, Benjamin, Eleanor, Hazel, Isabella, Violet, Lucy, Lucas, Alexander, Joseph, Harrison, Nolan, Gabriel, Aria, Clara, Stella, Addison, Scarlett, Thomas, Easton, Zoey, Ruby, Cameron, Calvin, Parker, Aurora, Layla, and Jaxson.
