Fourth tornado confirmed in Alabama from storms earlier this week

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has confirmed another tornado track in north Alabama.

This one was in Colbert County, and it brings the state's total to four tornadoes from Monday and Tuesday's round of severe storms.

The latest tornado was rated EF-0 and had peak winds estimated at 76 mph, according to a preliminary report from the National Weather Service in Huntsville.

It touched down at 12:18 a.m. Tuesday in far southern Colbert County near Littleville and was on the ground for 1.18 miles, the weather service said.

It was 75 yards wide at its peak.

The Colbert tornado comes in addition to three EF-1 storms confirmed by the weather service offices in both Huntsville and Birmingham:

  • The Lauderdale County tornado had estimated winds of 105 mph, the weather service said. It touched down at 11:16 p.m. Monday three miles northwest of Cloverdale and was on the ground for 3.54 miles. It was on the ground for seven minutes and was 200 yards wide at its peak.
  • The Jackson County tornado also had peak winds of 105 mph. It touched down at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday six miles east of Woodville and was on the ground for 3.88 miles. It was 215 yards wide at its peak.
  • The Lamar County tornado had peak winds of 85-90 mph. It touched down at 2:17 a.m. Tuesday about two miles east-southeast of Millport and was on the ground for 1 mile. It was 115 yards wide at its peak.
