The body of an 18-month-old girl swept from her mother's arms in flood waters has been found.

Krystal Wiggins and her four-year-old brother Damien were swept away while stranded in floods near Hindsville, Arkansas last weekend.

Damien was found on Monday afternoon more than three miles away from where he was taken by the waters. But Krystal's whereabouts was still a mystery.

Two hundred volunteers and law enforcement officials searched across the stream where the tragedy unfolded.

Authorities found Wiggins's body on Saturday afternoon - three miles west from the bridge where the children were taken.

Speaking about Wiggins's mother, Rachel Baker, family relative Kelly Laird told the Washington Post.: 'We’re saddened, you know, that this tragedy went on.

'But weight has been lifted off of her shoulder, not knowing where her daughter was.'

The tragedy unfolded on April 29.  Baker was travelling with the family's belongings to a new house - owned by the children's grandparents - when the heavy floods hit, causing their SUV to somersault.

The trio managed to escape their car before it was swept off the road and over a low-water bridge. However, once they were outside the vehicle, the 38-year-old mother was unable to keep hold of her children's hands.

She then desperately tried to go after her kids, and was ultimately found by rescuers about a mile downstream.

Krystal and Damien were one of 20 people who died as wild floods swept through most of Arkansas and Missouri last weekend.

The family hosted a memorial gathering on May 6 to thank the 200 volunteers and law enforcement officials who searched for the children.

A memorial service will also be held on May 8 at Living Water Baptist Church.

Friends of the family have created a GoFundMe page to help support the single mother after the loss of her two children. It has currently raised $8,005.
