Mountain Bike: C-I, Anderson close out winning season

MINNEAPOLIS--With a combined season score of 8,532 points, Crosby-Ironton won the season title for Division II in the Minnesota High School Cycling League.

MINNEAPOLIS-With a combined season score of 8,532 points, Crosby-Ironton won the season title for Division II in the Minnesota High School Cycling League.

C-I was presented the top honor at the season-ending celebration Nov. 9 at Northrup Auditorium on the campus of the University of Minnesota. They topped second-place finisher St. Paul Highland Park by 186 points.

Cuyuna Lakes finished in fifth place with 7,813 points and Brainerd landed in 29th.

At the middle school level, Cuyuna Lakes finished 10th followed by Brainerd in 18th place and Crosby-Ironton in 22nd.

Individually, C-I's Braeden Anderson scored 1,800 points to win the overall season title for varsity boys. Anderson won all four regular-season events he competed in and won the state title at Mt. Kato in Mankato.

Teammate Noah Coughlin finished sixth in the final season standings. Kaleb Bauer was 11th and Sam Roberts 14th. Evan Hutchison was 41st and Cuyler Rono 42nd in varsity boys.

Cuyuna's Peter Nierenhausen was 12th.

For Brainerd, Christopher Boucher finished 27th, Javan Hemsworth 38th, Kaden Sheflo 51st

In the varsity girls division, C-I's Courtney Johnson was 13th overall followed by Gracen Hardy of Cuyuna in 14th.

C-I's Anna Coughlin was fourth in the junior varsity 2 girls class.

Brooke Johnson of C-I was sixth in the freshmen girls class.

Lance Anderson secured a fourth in the junior varsity 3 division with 1,618 points. Ean Hunter was seventh, Ben Gujer 18th and Trevor Hutchison 20th.

Cuyuna's Austin Schroeder was 31st.

For Brainerd, Sam Pikula finished 13th and Ethan Cady 23rd.

In the junior varsity 2 class, Cuyuna's Jack Hennies placed sixth. Teammate Nathan Rom was 20th. Brainerd's Dominic Craig was 13th followed by Talon Yost in 36th, Briston Domino 56th, Landon Mertens 133rd.

With 2,044 points, freshman Jay Hunter of C-I was second in the freshmen boys division. Easton Maucieri was 43rd and Dominic French 104th. For Cuyuna, Nicholas Nierenhausen finished seventh, Isaiah Hamilton ninth and Ben Harris 39th.

Brainerd's Parker Linn was 10th, Baden Bastian 13th, Cole Weinrich 15th, Henry Stephens 20th, Logan Omberg 47th and Christopher Tix 67th.

Top finishers at the middle school level were Hayden Hagen of Brainerd who won the seventh-grade boys Division II level with 2,075 points. Cuyuna Lakes' Addie Ryan finished fourth in the seventh-grade girls division.

Brainerd's James Foster was seventh in the eighth-grade boys Division II class and Will Thomas of Brainerd placed ninth.
