It's been a few days hours since we last covered a fan theory about what could happen in upcoming episodes of Game of Thrones, so what better time to show you what we discovered on reddit during our lunch break.

First of all, there will be SPOILERS if you're not up to date with the latest episode, so don't scroll past the dragon if you're not all caught up.

Okay, we all know that Jon Snow is actually a Targaryen by now, right? Good. That means it's not beyond the realms of possibility that we'd see Jon hop aboard a fire-breathing lizard and pretend he's in underperforming PlayStation 3 game Lair.

Well, this new theory pulls a line that Daenerys says in the book A Dance with Dragons, where she explains that no one person has ever ridden two dragons before.

That clears up why Drogon seems to get all the love, but what's it got to do with Jon?

In the latest episode, the show made a point of Jon not jumping on Drogon to escape – was that just because he's selfless and/or wanted to charge the Night King, or because it's his destiny to ride Rhaegal?

And did poor old Viserion get killed off for the sake of neatness, so we'd have two dragons and two riders (Dany and Jon)?

We've already seen Jon get up close and personal with Dany's dragons, but is it enough for her to trust him with Rhaegal?

This is us adding our own thoughts to the mix here, but we think that now Daenerys is one dragon down, she will want a skilled rider atop Rhaegal to stop him biting the bucket as well, and it's quite obvious the Mother of Dragons has a thing for her relative.

Although, of course, she doesn't know he's a relative yet. If she hasn't let Jon ride Rhaegal by the time she finds out he is a Targaryen, she definitely will afterwards – incest and dragons are kind of that family's 'thing'.

Game of Thrones season 7 concludes next Sunday (August 27) with a movie-length finale at 9pm on HBO in the US. It will be simulcast at 2am on Sky Atlantic on Monday (August 28) in the UK.
