THIS year’s St Nicholas Night celebrations in Alcester have been hailed as “the best ever” as more than 3,000 people turned out.

Residents flocked to Alcester’s High Street on December 6 to soak up an evening of entertainment, which included the Alcester Silver Band and White Hart Morris Men.

Thomas Hancocks was this year’s Boy Bishop, with fellow St Nicholas CofE Primary School youngsters Ella Norton, Maisie Packman and Chloe Bayliss named as his attendants.

Bishop of Warwick John Stroyan and Rector of Alcester Adrian Guthrie were both in attendance, as the night culminated in a fireworks extravaganza.

Chairman of the St Nicholas Night Association, Andrew Mitchell, said: "We had tremendous support from the people and businesses of Alcester and the surrounding villages.

“It made for a wonderful night of celebration. Onwards and upwards for next year!"
