Several highways in Northwest Oklahoma remained closed due to high water from recent heavy rain.

According to Oklahoma Department of Transportation, in a report released at 4 p.m., Oklahoma 8B from Oklahoma 8 to Aline is also closed, as is Oklahoma 11/Oklahoma 8 from U.S. 64 north to Driftwood in Alfalfa County.

In Grant County U.S. 81 from Medford south to Pond Creek is closed.

In Kay County, the northbound Interstate 35 on and off ramps to West Braman and Bender roads are closed. U.S.177 north of the Oklahoma 11 junction in Blackwell also is closed, and U.S. 77 is closed from Oklahoma 156 north to Fountain Road. 

The closures resulted from heavy rain in the past week.

According to the Oklahoma Mesonet, a series of weather-recording stations in all 77 counties in the state, much of Northwest Oklahoma has seen of more than 5 inches of rain in the past seven days.

The Breckinridge site has recorded 4.35 inches of rain, one of the lowest totals in the area. The Lahoma site has seen 6.94 inches of rain in the past seven days.

Other sites and figures are: Medford, 5.97 inches; Cherokee, 6.16; Alva, 7.45; Freedom, 8.22; May Ranch, 9.81; Woodward, 7.91; Seiling, 8.98; Fairview, 5.35; Watonga, 6.18; Kingfisher, 4.95.

Northwest Oklahoma is expected to see more rain starting Thursday night and continuing through the weekend, according to National Weather Service.

Several flood warnings remain in effect, according to NWS.

The North Canadian River near Seiling has crested at 13.6 feet and is expected to fall below flood stage — which is 11 feet — mid-morning Thursday.

The Cimarron River near Dover was expected to crest near 20.1 feet Wednesday evening, according to NWS, and fall below flood stage, which is 17 feet, early Friday morning.

The Cimarron River near Ames was expected to crest at about 12.1 feet Wednesday evening and fall below flood stage of 10 feet early Friday morning, according to NWS.

The Cimarron River near Waynoka has crested at 8.6 feet, according to NWS, and will fall below flood stage of 8 feet early Saturday morning.
