Anna, Texas -- On March 16, 2015 heaven gained an angel. Freddie Elmer Knippa gave his beautiful soul to the Lord at the age of 77.

He leaves behind his wife, Elizabeth Ann Knippa, who he loved and cherished for 55 years. His four children: Donna McFarland, Susan Weaver, Phillip Knippa, and Tracy Knippa; all of whom he passed along his genuine and gentle nature. He also leaves behind two brothers, Roy and Rudy Knippa; and 1 sister, Jane Schimank. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

He is preceeded in death by his parents, Emil Knippa and Adele Woelfel; and four brothers, Eddie Knippa, E.C. Knippa, Jimmy Knippa, and Lawrence Knippa.

Freddie was born in Fedor, Texas on August 8, 1936. He graduated from Giddings High School before he brought his southern hospitality to Anna, Texas, where he resided for over 50 years.

Freddie, a known family man, supported his family by working for Southern Pacific railroad for over 40 years. He was a dedicated provider, and the backbone of his family. He was a mentor and example of great accomplishment to his children, and friends and family.

Freddie, a true servant of God, was a founding member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in 1978. He continued to serve the Lord by serving as a Stephen Minister, and later as a Church Elder. Everything Freddie did in his life reflected his love and belief in Christ.

Freddie was also an active member of the community. He served on the Anna School Board for many years, and could always been found cheering on the Coyotes and Lady Coyotes at sporting events.

Freddie celebrated his life every day. He never met a stranger, and never turned down an opportunity to serve others. He always gave, expecting nothing but the happiness of others. He touched the life of anyone he met, and inspired those around him to be better.

Small in stature, and big at heart; Freddie will be missed by everyone who knew him. There is no doubt that he will be celebrating eternal life with the Lord, and looking down on us every day still spreading love and kindness.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2015 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in McKinney with Craig DuBois officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Westminister.  Family will receive friends Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, Texas
