New Madrid Co. man pleads guilty to meth charges

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KAIT) - A New Madrid County man has pleaded guilty on Monday to conspiracy to distribute meth.

Brandon Todd Berry, 36, pleaded to the felony count of a conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of meth. He now faces a maximum of life in jail and an $8 million fine, or both with the court commanding 10-years supervised release.

The Dept. of Justice says Berry admitted to wanting to bring meth from Oklahoma to southeast Missouri for distribution purposes.

He was arrested in September along with Jesus Alverado-Valdez and Larry Frala near Canalou, Mo. by New Madrid and Morehouse police.

Police recovered over $10,0000 in drug proceeds and six ounces of meth at the time of their arrests.

An eight month investigation showed that Berry and his conspirators had brought several pounds of meth into the Sikeston Area.  Valdez and Frala pleaded guilty and will be sentenced in late July.
