A man critically wounded early Tuesday in a drive-by shooting in Vacaville died Thursday at Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center.

He was identified as Michael Hawthorne Jr., 21, of Vacaville.

Hawthorne was the passenger of a vehicle parked in the 500 block of Robin Drive around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday when the occupants of a dark colored, four-door sedan with large rims and tinted windows fired multiple rounds at the auto before fleeing east on Robin Drive, police said.

The woman in the vehicle with Hawthorne was not injured, though Hawthorne was seriously wounded.

The suspects were described as three Black men in their early 20s with thin builds, short hair and wearing dark-colored clothing.

Detectives are reviewing video footage from neighboring camera systems. Anyone with cameras in the areas of Robin Drive, Poppy Circle and the Meadowlark Drive area is asked to to reach out to Detective Lisa Sampson at 469-4851.

The matter remains under investigation.
