Man Accused In Deadly Hemet Shooting To Stand Trial

BANNING, CA — A Hemet man accused of gunning down an acquaintance during a street confrontation must stand trial on murder and other charges, a judge ruled Tuesday.

Marquis Anthony Dorsey, 25, allegedly killed 36-year-old Terrell Raymond Jobe of Victorville on Oct. 13, 2016.

Following a preliminary hearing at the Banning Justice Center, Riverside County Superior Court Judge Chad Firetag found there was sufficient evidence to warrant a trial on the murder count, as well as sentence-enhancing gun and great bodily injury allegations.

Firetag scheduled a post-preliminary hearing arraignment for Dec. 14 and kept Dorsey's bail at $2 million.

According to sheriff's Sgt. Ray Huskey, the attack happened about 8 p.m. in the 41700 block of Marine Drive, just off of Stanford Street, in the unincorporated community of East Hemet.

Huskey said Dorsey and Jobe got into a dispute -- why was unclear -- and the defendant allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the victim multiple times.

Dorsey fled the scene moments before deputies arrived, the sergeant said.

Jobe was taken to an inland trauma center, where he died a short time later, according to Huskey.

As detectives were investigating the shooting, Dorsey walked into the Hemet Police Department and allegedly confessed his involvement. Detectives interviewed him for several hours before he was booked into jail.

The defendant, who has no documented prior felony convictions, is being held at the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
