Hayley Slater made a decision that could change her life forever in tonight’s EastEnders, and now she’ll have to live with the consequences.
The new mum returned to the Square having absconded from hospital wearing just a hospital gown and carrying her baby in a blanket. With no money for a cab, she was forced to accept Carmel’s offer of help or get arrested after the cabbie turned nasty.
With the Slaters off looking for her, she seized her opportunity to whip home and ransack the house of all of the babies things; new bottles, nappies, baby grows. Packing everything she could carry, Hayley legged it before Kat, Mo and Stacey returned home.
Waiting until it got dark, Hayley made her move, and made her decision that could have a huge impact on the Slater family.
Carrying the baby in her Moses basket, she made her way over to the Ahmed family’s house and carefully laid the basket on the door step. Deciding she’s not a fit mother, Hayley abandoned the little girl for the Ahmeds to find.
Telling her: ‘I just don’t know how to love you properly’, Hayley took off into the night.
With the social having been called after she left hospital and with them already being on her case, will Hayley lose her baby forever? Has she just played into Kat’s hands at being an unfit mum?
