Michael T. Duchscherer

Michael Duchscherer, 71, Jamestown, ND, formerly of Velva, ND, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND.

Michael Thomas Duchscherer was born April 21, 1945, the second of three children to Peter and Katherine (Thomas) Duchscherer, in Minot, ND. He was raised and educated in Velva. Michael was baptized and confirmed at St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Velva and he and his brother Robert would often help Father Karl Hobelsberger with the upkeep of Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Velva. While in school, Michael played football and was a member of the FFA. He graduated from Velva High School.

Following graduation, Michael attended the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND, where he received his certificate in Auto Body Repair and Refinishing Technology. He put his education to good use, working as an auto body technician for the Ford Dealership of Jamestown for nearly 30 years.

Michael went on to attend trade school a second time, this time in Minnesota where he received his certificate as a Machinist. He then went on to work as a bus driver for the Jamestown Public School District for over 10 years; a job that he enjoyed and hoped to return to right up until the time of his passing.

Michael was a member of the Harley Davidson Club of Jamestown and looked forward to his yearly trips to the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which he attended for over 30 years.

Michael enjoyed going on hunting trips with his family members. He also loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was a quiet, soft spoken man who was always willing to help those in need. He will be deeply missed by his family.

Brother, Robert (Marilyn) Duchscherer, Jamestown; sister, Bernardine (Gary) Hall-Bailey, Minot; nieces and nephews, Tammy (Allen) Falk, Jamestown, Todd (Renae) Duchscherer, New Rockford, Troy Duchscherer, Jamestown, Andrea M. Hall, Loveland, CO, Michael J. Hall, Jr., Loveland, CO, Jason R. Hall, Loveland, CO, Christina Bailey (Derrek) Carrol, Chicago, IL and Jennifer Bailey (Wade) Fortin, Sacramento, CA; 8 great-nieces & nephews; 8 great-great-nieces & nephews; and numerous cousins.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Katherine Duchscherer; brother-in-law, Michael J. Hall, Sr.; and his great-nephew, Trevor Duchscherer.

Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, October 22, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva, ND.

Inurnment: Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Velva, ND.

Visitation: There will be no reviewal, but friends are invited to sign the guest book an hour before the service at the church.
