ACC Open House
ENFIELD — Asnuntuck Community College, 170 Elm St., will hold an open house on Tuesday, Nov. 13. The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. The open house will feature information about ACC’s credit and Continuing Education opportunities, information sessions from Admissions and Financial Aid, campus tours, including a visit to the Children’s Reading Room (a free cooperative childcare location for students’ children), as well as an information session, and a tour in the Advanced Manufacturing & Technology Center.

Somers Village Players Auditions
SOMERS — Somers Village Players auditions for “Over the River and Through the Woods” will take place at 55 School St. on the following two dates: Friday, Nov. 9, with check-in at 6:30 p.m. and auditions at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, Nov. 10, with a 2 p.m. check-in and auditions at 2:30 p.m.
The cast will include three men and three women. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Prepared readings may also be presented if desired. A theatre resume and/or headshot is encouraged but not required.
Characters are as follows and the ages listed are the stated ages of the characters, not necessarily the required age of the actors: Nick Cristiano, In his 30s; Frank Gianelli, Nick’s maternal grandfather, 80; Aida Gianelli, Nick’s maternal grandmother, in her 70s; Nunzio Cristiano, Nick’s paternal grandfather, in his 70s; Emma Cristiano, Nick’s paternal grandmother, in her 70s; and Caitlin O’Hare, attractive and charming, in her late 20s. Performance dates are March 29 and 30, and April 5, 7, 12 and 13.
Craft Fest
ENFIELD — On Friday, Nov. 16, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Enfield Congregational Church at 1295 Enfield St. will host its annual craft fest. The event will feature a bake shop, cookie walk, vintage jewelry, knit items and more.
A roast pork dinner with all the trimmings will take place at 5:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. on Friday. A homemade corn chowder lunch will take place on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Parking is free. For more info, call Melissa at 860-729-9821.

Veteran’s Day Car Giveaway
AREA — The Hartford chapter of NAPA Auto Care’s B.D.G., or Business Development Group, is giving away a 1994 Convertible Mustang on Monday, Dec. 3. The car was acquired and repaired with the help and dedicated effort of the group in hopes of offering a selected veteran a small token of gratitude for their service.
With their continual support for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund and the unwavering support for the soldiers, the car is another way the group can give back. In observance of the Veteran’s Day holiday on Nov. 11, each participating B.D.G. repair facility will be dedicating the entire month of November to a veteran customer raffle. There is no charge to participate and is open to any veteran who presents a service card.
Each shop will have a raffle voucher stand at their facility for all veterans to fill out and participate in while their vehicle is being serviced. The winner will be drawn on Dec. 3 and contacted shortly thereafter. All veterans showing their service cards are always eligible for up to a 10-percent discount at any of these facilities.

Turkey Supper & Holiday Treasures Fair
SOMERSVILLE — The Congregational Church of Somersville will hold its annual family style turkey supper on Saturday, Nov. 10, with sittings at 5 and 6:15 p.m. The church, which is handicap accessible, is located at 22 Maple St.
The menu will include roast turkey breast with mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, native winter squash, cranberry sauce, tossed salad, homemade breads and rolls, fresh pumpkin pie and beverage. The annual Holiday Treasures Fair and Bake Sale will be held in the social hall of the Congregational Church of Somersville, 22 Maple St., on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hosted by the Ladies Aide Society of the church, the room will be filled with Christmas crafts and decorations, attic treasures, homemade jams/jellies, relishes, beans, etc. and tables filled with freshly made home-baked treats including breads, cookies, cakes, pies, candy and more. Proceeds from the sale help benefit church and community projects.
Thanksgiving Food Drive
ENFIELD — The Enfield Food Shelf’s Thanksgiving food drive is ongoing. In addition to those typically donated items, turkeys and other traditional holiday meal items will be needed for Thanksgiving and holiday tables. Frozen turkeys, 12 to 15 pounds in size, boxes of instant potatoes, cans of yams and vegetables, pie crust mix, frostings, cranberry sauces, pickles, olives and other condiments are among needed items. Donations may be brought to Enfield Food Shelf at 96 Alden Ave.

Enfield High Class Reunion
SOUTH WINDSOR — The Enfield High School Class of 1973’s 45th class reunion will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24, at Maneeley’s of South Windsor, located at 65 Rye St. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $55 per person. Members of the Fermi High School Class of 1973 are welcome to attend as well.
The evening will include cash bar, butler passed hors d’oeuvres, carving and pasta stations, and a wide array of desserts, as well as a DJ and other festivities marking the anniversary.

Beauty And The Beast

Meals On Wheels Seeking Volunteers
SOMERS — The Town of Somers’ Meals on Wheels Program was instituted in October of 1981 by the Town’s Advisory Committee for Seniors. It is a grassroots effort, running independently of any state assistance.
Meals are prepared by Hometown Kitchen Restaurant for elderly, homebound residents and delivered Monday through Saturday by dedicated volunteers. The elderly population in the community is growing and with that growth comes increased demand for these types of services. The Meals on Wheels Program is in need of volunteers to deliver meals. Volunteers can deliver once a month, once a week or whenever their schedule permits. Background checks are required. Combat Feathers Holiday Fair
SOMERS — Combat Feathers, a nonprofit organization that provides emergency financial relief to local veterans, will be holding its’ fourth annual craft and vendor holiday fair on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Joanna’s Banquet Hall, 145 Main St.
