Florida man who led VSP on chase in Maserati charged with forgery

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Following a high-speed chase in a Maserati, a Florida man has been charged with forgery and driving without a license.

The vehicle engaged police in a high-speed chase on two interstates March 7.

Virginia State Police said the Maserati was seen recklessly changing lanes while traveling south on I-95 in Chesterfield County just after 10:30 a.m.

The vehicle was pulled over near Willis Road, but as the trooper approached the vehicle on foot, the Maserati sped off. VSP engaged a pursuit of the vehicle on I-95 south and I-85 south, and it was seen passing other vehicles on the shoulder and reaching “excessive speeds.”

Spike strips were deployed on southbound I-85 south in Brunswick County, causing the vehicle’s tires to go flat and bringing it to a stop.

Police said the pursuit did not result in any injuries or crashes.

Braxton A. Francis, 23, of Boynton Beach, FL, was charged with five counts of felony eluding, one count of forging bank checks and driving without an operator’s license.

Additionally, a female passenger identified as Lexus Jageman, 19, of Boynton Beach, FL, was charged with one count of forging bank checks and one count of possession of a schedule I and II drug.

Francis is being held at Chesterfield County Jail without bond, and Jageman is being held at Meherrin River Regional Jail.
