University of South Carolina Aiken to Host State, Regional Scholarly Events

AIKEN, SC (04/11/2018) The University of South Carolina Aiken will host a variety of scholarly and cultural activities April 12-14.

Events on campus are free and open to the public.

April 12-13: SCHOLAR SHOWCASE - USC Aiken Gregg-Graniteville Library, 9 a.m. - 4:15 p.m.

USC Aiken undergraduate students and their faculty mentors from all disciplines will discuss their original research, including methodology and findings. Research conducted on the USC Aiken campus includes genetic, cancer, and HIV-related inquiries. More than 200 undergraduate students will participate in this event.

April 12-14: SOUTH CAROLINA HUMANITIES FESTIVAL - On the USC Aiken campus and throughout downtown Aiken.

The opening gala and reception for the S.C. Humanities Festival is April 12, 7:30 p.m., in the Etherredge Center. This event not only kicks off the state's annual humanities festival but also serves as the official release of Livio Orazio Valentini: An Artist's Spiritual Odyssey written by USC Aiken Chancellor Emeritus Dr. Robert Alexander and Dr. John Elliott, professor emeritus. Valentini was once an artist in residence at USC Aiken. The event features a special exhibit of Valentini's art, specifically that which was influenced by his time in Aiken.

April 13-14: COUNCIL OF PUBLIC LIBERAL ARTS COLLEGES SOUTHEAST REGIONAL UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH, SCHOLARLY, AND CREATIVE ACTIVITY CONFERENCE - On the USC Aiken Campus.

Students from institutions around the region will present their original scholarly work during this annual conference. USC Aiken is the host of this event sponsored by the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges.

April 13: ASIAN-PACIFIC AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH CELEBRATION - In front of the Student Activities Center, in the heart of the USC Aiken campus, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

This event will feature Polynesian dancers.

April 13: OPEN HOUSE FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES -- Throughout the USC Aiken campus.

The USC Aiken Open House program features a full day of activities, including an info fair with a variety of campus departments and programs, a tour of campus and freshmen apartments, a financial aid discussion, and lunch in the campus dining hall.
