Hot and dry conditions were forecast to continue this weekend from the San Diego County foothills, across the mountains and into the deserts, while the coastal basin was expected to be moderated by the marine layer and sea breezes, the National Weather Service said.
An excessive heat warning was issued Saturday by the weather service until 9 p.m. for the valleys, while an excessive heat warning was issued until 9 p.m. Sunday for county deserts and mountains.

Extreme heat, low afternoon relative humidity of 10-15%, and gusty westerly winds of 20-30 mph were predicted to maintain elevated fire weather conditions along the desert slopes, through the passes and into some desert areas this weekend, the NWS said.
High temperatures in coastal areas Saturday were expected to be 71-76 degrees with overnight lows of 58-63. Western valley highs will be 81-86 and 90- 95 in the foothills with overnight lows of 59-67.
Mountain highs were expected to be 92-102 with overnight lows of 63- 73. Highs in the deserts will be 116-121 with overnight lows of 83-91.
Low pressure approaching the California coast on Monday was predicted to amplify the onshore flow and help to push cooling farther inland through the first half of next week, forecasters said.
Areas of low clouds and patchy fog were expected to continue nights and mornings along the coast, while moisture spinning off of Tropical Storm Dolores may spread higher clouds over Southern California on Tuesday, the NWS said.
Fair and warmer weather was predicted for the latter half of next week.
