Today our main focus is on stock markets that continued its upward trend for six consecutive days till Friday owing to optimism over trade talks between the US and China.
Here's how the markets fared today:
The benchmark Sensex closed 334 points below to end at 38,963. This is the first time that Sensex ended in red after the one-week period. Nifty too ended 73 points below to 11,588 points. Rupee added 20 paise intra-day trade at 70.96 per USD.
Here's how the markets opened today:
The S&P Sensex opened 82 points low at 39,216 after its previous close at 39,298 on Friday. The losses were mainly due to plunge in shares of heavyweight Infosys. Its shares fell by up to 14 per cent that dampened the rally in energy and banking stocks in the early trade. Nifty, on the other hand, opened nearly flat.
The domestic equities were closed on Monday due to assembly polls in Maharashtra.

Rupee, on the other hand, rose by 22 points to trade at 70.92 in its early session.
Brent crude, the global benchmark of oil, slipped by 0.03 per cent to USD 58.94 per barrel.
Meanwhile, petrol prices continued its downward trend by 4-5 paise. Diesel prices also slipped by as much as 7 paise on Tuesday. The fall in prices is due to the upcoming festive season of Diwali and assembly elections in several states.

Rs 76.04 in Chennai, Rs 73.22 in Delhi, Rs 75.87 in Kolkata and Rs 78.33 in Mumbai
Diesel per Litre:
Rs 69.89 in Chennai, Rs 66.17 in Delhi, Rs 68.53 in Kolkata and Rs 69.35 in Mumbai
Gold
Gold prices opened 0.29 per cent lower to 38,142 per 10 grams of pure gold. The overall price of the yellow metal has plunged by nearly Rs 1900 per 10 grams as compared to last month's record high of Rs 40,000.

Among other metals, Silver opened almost flat at Rs 45,483 per kg.
