FLINT TWP, MI — A Flint Township-based warehousing, packaging and distribution company is expanding.
The Flint Township Zoning Board of Appeals approved NorthGate’s plans to purchase and expand at the former Lowe’s building, 2100 T A Mansour Boulevard, on Thursday, Sept. 24.
NorthGate has plans to move into the building within the next couple of months, according to Economic Enhancement Director for Flint Township Tracey Tucker.
The more than 35-year-old company is headquartered at G3367 Corunna Road.
“They’re looking at possible expansion on the building in the future,” Tucker added.
Jobs are on the horizon as well, the expansion could generate 20-120 jobs, depending on the contracts, Tucker said.
The company is a supplier to General Motors and others in the Flint area, according to its website.
“We are very happy that NorthGate has decided to expand, but also to keep within the community, where they’re already located,” Tucker said. " It’s always nice to have a great community partner."
Tucker also highlighted the company’s Be Ready Employee Enrichment Services. The services are designed to help individuals overcome barriers to success and take them from unemployment to employment and meaningful, lifelong careers, according to NorthGate’s website.
“They help them get into permanent housing," said Tucker. “So, they do a lot of work with their employees and increase the quality of life for their employees as well."
