Now that both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals have officially wrapped up, all of our attention is focused squarely on the upcoming spin-off series Legacies.

Set in Mystic Falls' new Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted, Legacies follows 17-year-old Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) as a new student at the school that's owned and run by Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis), who teaches his pupils to control their supernatural gifts.

So there's no-one better than actual Mystic Falls legacy Jeremy Gilbert to pop up to lend his experience to the cause.

According to TVLine, Vampire Diaries actor Steven R McQueen will be making an appearance in the third episode of the spin-off show.

During his time on The CW series, Jeremy found himself caught up in a lot of supernatural activity, so there's no doubt he'll be dropping by to share his experiences of being the younger brother of a Petrova doppelgänger-turned-vampire, the boyfriend of a witch from one of the most powerful lines of witches ever and a supernatural vampire hunter in his own right.

After bowing out of the series in the show's sixth season, McQueen last appeared as Jeremy in the Vampire Diaries series finale, where he was seen working alongside Alaric in the newly-opened boarding school.

While McQueen hasn't commented on the appearance just yet, he has shown himself to be in a very nostalgic frame of mind, sharing a photo of himself with some former Vampire Diaries cast members out to dinner yesterday.

"Catching up with old friends," he captioned the photo, which also features Matt Davis (Alaric), Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood) and Zach Roerig (Matt Donovan) among others.

And, coincidentally, Roerig will also be making an appearance in Legacies, so here's hoping we can expect to see a lot more of our favourite Vampire Diaries characters in the spin-off.

Legacies premieres on Thursday, October 25 on The CW in the US. The series does not have a UK home.
