Freida Speer

Freida Firmin Speer, 78, died at her home under the care of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Blume and Irene Firmin of Evergreen, La. and her first husband Lt. Jerome “Buddy” Callegari USAF of Cottonport La. She is survived by her husband Bruce P Speer of 51 years; sister Dona Simmons of Bunkie, La.; brother Carl Firmin (Judy) of Bossier City, La. and sister Debra Maeder (Phillip) of Hixson, Tenn. Her children Candace Hadden (Richard) of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Paula Watson (Carl) of Sale Creek, Tenn. Her grandchildren include Cheyenne Hurst, Rachel and Preston Hadden with several nieces and nephews. Freida was known for her vivacious smile and her sincere friendship and caring of others. Her faith in God was deep rooted and she loved to serve in ministries at her church. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday May 21 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Soddy Daisy, Tenn. with Monsignor Al Humbrecht Celebrant and Father Mike Creson Concelebrant. Visitation will be at the church at 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 11 a.m. and lunch will be served afterwards. Burial will be on a later date at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tenn.
