Probation Check Leads To Drug Bust In Winter Haven

A probation check by Winter Haven Police led to the discovery of drugs, cash and drug paraphernalia in the possession of a convicted felon.

WINTER HAVEN, FL -- A probation check by Winter Haven Police led to the discovery of drugs, cash and drug paraphernalia in the possession of a convicted felon.

On Tuesday, April 17 at 8:30 a.m., Winter Haven Police officers accompanied a state probation officer to the home of Christopher Berger, 33, of 121 Ave. D, SW, Winter Haven for a security check.

Upon entering the home, officers noticed a baggie of white powder sitting on a counter with a digital scale. A search led officers to $3,121 cash in Berger’s bedroom.

Based on these finds, police obtained a search warrant and discovered 23.7 grams of powdered cocaine, 39.79 ounces of cannabis, 14.2 grams of MDMA, 2 grams of ecstasy, 47.7 grams of Xanax, 1.1 grams of tapentadol and 451.7 grams of a white powder that tested positive for cocaine.

Berger was placed under arrest and booked into the Polk County Jail possession of cocaine with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a church, possession of MDMA over 10 grams, possession of cannabis with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a church, possession of prescription drugs without a prescription and maintaining a structure for keeping controlled substances.

Berger's criminal history includes various charges for possessing drugs, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, domestic violence battery, DUI and resisting arrest.
