Ste. Genevieve kayaker drowns in Meramec River

LEASBURG, MO (KFVS) - A Ste. Genevieve man drowned while kayaking in the Meramec River.

The Missouri State Water Patrol identified the victim as 52-year-old Jonathan Kern.

Officials say Kern and friends were in kayaks Wednesday night when Kern disappeared in the river near Leasburg, Missouri.

His friends tried to find him, then called for help.

The water patrol found his body after a three-hour search.
