Check Out The Holiday Events Around Houston This Weekend

A ton of cool holiday events are happening this weekend to kick off the first week of December.

It’s the first weekend of December and there are a number of great events happening in the Houston area that will surely help get you in the holiday mood.

Most communities in the Houston area are hosting Christmas tree lighting and Friday and Saturday, but there are other events happening too.

Sweet Jamboree| Sugar Land| Saturday 1-3 p.m.| Visit Sugar Land is gearing up for the holidays, and you’re invited to come unwrap the holiday magic and spread cheer at our “Sweet Jamboree” one-day event at the Sugar Land Heritage Museum and Visitor Center. Jingle your way to this family fun-filled event in the sweetest city in Texas and join us for this holiday celebration at the Sugar Land Heritage Museum and Visitor Center, 198 Kempner Street, Building B – 2nd Floor.

Holiday in the Park| Houston| Saturday 10-5| Free| Market Square Park in Downtown Houston hosts a Holiday in the Park shopping experience on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Organized by Pop Shop America and the Houston Downtown Management District (Downtown District), this outdoor market allows Houstonians to discover the work of more than 30 Texas-based vendors selling stylish goods, just in time for the holidays. Expect a DIY crafting station, a hot chocolate bar, holiday selfie stations, all-day mimosas, music from DJ Fredster, Texas’s largest mistletoe and more.

Menorah at Discovery Green| Sunday starting at 3 p.m.| Free| To celebrate the 2018 Hanukkah season, Chabad Outreach of Houston will be carving a giant ice menorah at Discovery Green on Sunday, Dec. 2, the first night of the eight-day holiday. The ice menorah will be sculpted by professional ice carvers as participants look ok and watch the intricacies of ice sculpting while learning about Hanukkah.The event will feature ice skating, a Judah the Maccabee live statue, balloon artists, face painters, Hanukkah arts and crafts, and a food quarter by Genesis Steakhouse and Laykie’s Gourmet Cafe at the J. Admission is free, and children will receive complimentary Hanukkah gifts.

Houston Choral Society|Christmas Concert at Big Stone Lodge|Saturday, Dec. 1 at 3:30 p.m.| Big Stone Lodge’s free intergenerational programs are part of Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner R. Jack Cagle’s educational and recreational commitment to Harris County residents. Big Stone Lodge is located in Dennis Johnston Park at 709 Riley Fuzzel Road, Spring, TX, 77373. Trip sign-up is on a first-come, first-serve basis at Big Stone Lodge. The cost is $17 per person. Dinner is on your own at Backyard Grill. Transportation is provided for individuals 50 and better through Harris County Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program. A Harris County Precinct 4 bus will pick up and drop off participants at Spring Baptist Church, located at 633 E. Louetta Road in Spring.

Dickens on the Strand| Galveston| Friday thru Sunday| Take a trip back to 19th Century London and embrace this timeless classic. Dickens on the Strand has been an island fixture for nearly half a century. The annual holiday street festival features live entertainment on multiple streets, strolling carolers, roving musicians, bagpipers, and a lot more.

The Nutcracker at the Wortham Theater| Houston |Friday, and Saturday through December|Tickets| Another timeless holiday classic that should never be missed in Houston. Take a trip to the Kingdom of Sweets, and you’ll be hooked forever.

9th Annual Katy Old Fashioned Christmas Festival|Saturday| Free| Come on out and find that something special for that someone special this Christmas. Check out the amazing artisan gifts available, while experiencing the roaming carolers.

Home for the Holidays Market| Pasadena Fairgrounds| Saturday noon-5 p.m.| Check out the wares at the holiday market this weekend. The market will include plenty of artisans, direct sellers, boutiques, holiday vendors, antiques, vintage, and more.

Jingle Bell Bark and Brew| Kirby Ice House in Houston| Bring the dog out for more than just a walk in the park. Lost of pet-friendly fun that includes a photo with Santa.

3rd Annual Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl| Saturday 3-9 p.m.| Tickets start at $19| Bust out the ugly sweater, and hit 10 of the coolest bars in downtown Houston.
