BASKING RIDGE, NJ — As work begins this week to mill and pave South Maple Avenue, the township passed a resolution on Sept. 11 asking the state for funding to cover road improvements on the north side.

Bernards Township Committee agreed to submit a grant application to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for North Maple Avenue Improvements.

The project would extend from the intersection of North Maple Avenue, South Maple Avenue (CR 657) and West Oak Street (CR 624), a distance of 1.43 miles, to the boundary between municipal and state jurisdiction on North Maple Avenue south of Interstate Route 287, or such portion thereof as may be approved by the Commissioner of Transportation, according to the resolution.
