Fort Pierce man killed after three-car crash in Palm Beach County

PALM BEACH COUNTY — A Fort Pierce man was killed Sunday night after a three-car crash.

Nicholas Woodward, 23, of  Fort Pierce, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

The crash happened at 7:39 p.m. at the intersection of South Congress Avenue and Greenbrier Drive in Palm Beach County.

Troopers said Alexis Vecino, 17, of West Palm Beach, was driving her 2007 Toyota Camry northbound on State Road 807 when the she lost control and crossed over all the lanes and hit Woodward's vehicle. Woodward was stopped at a Publix entrance, waiting to turn right.

Woodward's car was hit on the left side, which caused the Vecino's car to spin and hit a utility pole. 

Woodward's car   hit a palm tree before striking an unoccupied parked car.

 Vecino was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center with serious injuries, troopers said. Woodward was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
