Derek Wolfe dislocated his finger during MNF, popped it back in and kept playing

Maybe there’s more to Derek Wolfe’s last name than we realized.

The Broncos defensive end dislocated his finger during Monday Night Football against the Texans. His solution? Popping it back in and continuing to play.

The Broncos went on to win the game 27-9 and Wolfe finished with two tackles. On the season, Wolfe has 25 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two passes defended.

Last year, Wolfe recorded 49 tackles and 5.5 sacks in 12 starts (he was suspended for the first four games of the season). He’s on pace to nearly double both of those totals in 2016.

The Broncos selected Wolfe out of Cincinnati in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft. He has 165 tackles and 21.5 sacks since then. If he continues playing like he has early this season, he could see serious consideration for the 2017 Pro Bowl.

Denver, of course, hopes their players are not available to play in the Pro Bowl. At 5-2, the Broncos are eying home field advantage in the playoffs and a trip to Super Bowl LI. Broken fingers aren’t going to stop them.
