World Class Piano Music in Denver
By Molly M. - Denver Piano Teacher
Denver is probably not the first city that springs to mind if someone asks you where to find great classical music. New York City, home of the Met, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall might be your answer. You could also mention any of the great cities of Europe, with institutions such as the Paris Opera, Milan’s La Scala, or the Berlin or Vienna Philharmonic Orchestras. But you might be surprised to learn that Denver has hosted its share of truly exceptional classical musicians, including a number of pianists.
Not only have some great musicians come here to play with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, but they frequently give solo performances as well. As a student at the University of Denver I had the opportunity to attend many wonderful concerts, including concerts and master classes given by a number of fabulous pianists. Musicians like Yefim Bronfman and Richard Goode played recitals in a concert hall literally right across the street from where I was living. Jean-Yves Thibaudet recently played a recital here in Denver just days before playing the same program at Carnegie Hall.
By the time I had the chance to experience these world class performances I had already made my decision to study music and had been listening to recordings of pianists of the same caliber for years. However, there is really nothing like a live performance to move and inspire. I highly recommend taking advantage of the wonderful pianists who come to Denver; it’s an experience to remember and treasure, especially if you are a student taking piano lessons in Denver.
Hearing great pianists inspires me in my continuing study of the piano. I find it just as inspiring to be able to guide others through piano lessons in Denver as they learn to read music, become comfortable at the keyboard, and slowly become pianists in their own right.
For as long as I can remember, music and the piano have been integral parts of my life; parts that bring me great joy. I try to communicate that to each one of the students I have the pleasure teaching piano lessons in Denver. I hope that I can inspire them the way they inspire me.
