Moderator Candidates Trade Jabs In North Andover Candidates Forum

Mark DiSalvo's challenger in Tuesday's election continued to portray the incumbent as too political for the partisan role.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA -- With less than a week to the March 27 town election in North Andover, moderator candidates Gerald Brecher and incumbent Mark DiSalvo traded barbs and accusations in a candidates forum sponsored by the Andover/North Andover League of Women Voters Thursday night. Brecher continued to attack DiSalvo, accusing him of "hijacking" an earlier candidates forum and being too political for the job of moderating North Andover Town Meeting.

DiSalvo responded that it was Brecher that hijacked the forum, according to the Eagle Tribune, which first reported this story. The two moderator candidates were the only candidates included in the forum. Winter storms and postponements had prevented the League of Women Voters from following through with its original plan to host a forum with candidates in all contested races in Tuesday's election.

The only other contested race a three-way race for two open seats on the board of selectmen. For more on Tuesday's election, including polling places and hours, absentee ballot information and registration, see the North Andover Patch 2018 Town Election Guide.
