3. Flame Con is back August 20-21st for its 2nd year in NYC. For two days geeks of all types are invited to celebrate the diversity and creativity of LGBTQ contributions to pop culture. Last year’s Flame Con brought in about 2,200 visitors for what was a one day convention, making it the largest queer-focused pop culture expo ever held in New York. This year enjoy an extra day, a larger venue, better panels and of course more awesome cosplay. Flame Con is being held at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge and tickets range from $25-$40. 5. This Sunday is WWE’s Summer Slam 2016 and annual fan event, ManiaCrawl, is bringing together hundreds of wrestling fans from around the world for a massive bar crawl to experience the fight with other wrestling enthusiasts. The event is free and raises money for Connor’s Cure and The Children’s Hospital. Connor’s Cure, established at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation in 2014, was created by Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Stephanie McMahon, Chief Brand Officer, to honor the irrepressible spirit of wrestling fan, Connor Michalek, who lost his battle with cancer in 2014. 6. Looking for something fun to do with the kids? Saturday is Pier 5 Family Field Day at the Brooklyn Bridge Park.
