VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Some police dogs in Virginia Beach are getting protection thanks to a local real estate development company.
The Breeden Company, a local real estate development company, is pledging $20,000 over five years to buy ballistic vests for the dogs.
Each vest costs about $2,500.
Breeden has also reached out to other Hampton Roads cities to offer vests for their police dogs.
The company’s founder and CEO, Ramon Breeden Jr., is an animal lover who also keeps rescue animals.
